CAMILLA AND MARC Woollahra
Situated in the heart of Woollahra on Queen Street, the CAMILLA AND MARC Sydney Flagship is situated at the epicentre of Sydney design, antiquities, arts and eateries.
Featuring a large artwork by Austrlian Artist Paige Northwood. Paige uses found materials such as local clay, pigment, ochre and charcoal, out of both necessity and respect for living sustainably.
A curated collective of Australian artisans were hand-selected to commission unique works, bringing the vision of the store by CAMILLA AND MARC founders Camilla Freeman-Topper and Marc Freeman and honouring the provenance of the brand.
The boutique was consciously crafted and designed to captivate the future now, where circularity was considered in the construction of various interior elements.
All furniture is vintage sourced, including an Italian Travertine Coffee Table from the 1980s, a lamp by Helena Frantova for Okolo in the 1950s, Modernist Pel Tubular Metal Armchair from the 1930’s, Sessann Armchairs by Gianfranco Frattini from the 1970s re-upholstered in a fabric called Atom by Raf Simons for Kvadrat.
Grounded in a muted palette to allow space for the clothing to be appreciated and truly enjoyed, CAMILLA AND MARC Woollahra plays with lighting, texture and tone. Hand-rendered venetian plastered walls are wax-finished providing a neutral yet tactile backdrop to the collections and are recessed to house curved rails which wrap the space shaping a gallery-like experience.
A textural piece by Nick Herd through Jerico Contemporary connects to the muted and earthy colour palette of the store.
The importance of family and a sense of gathering is at the heart of the design, with the store welcoming guests as though they are entering into a home environment. A focal point is the artisan hand-crafted sandstone fireplace, a homely and warm touch, and a nod to Woollahra’s local architecture. The fireplace is anchored within the central lounge space along with the Soriana by Afra & Tobia Scarpa for Cassina sofa.
